Most problems have a quick fix below. If yours is not here, email us — a person reads every message.
[email protected]Highlighting
Highlighting does not work on a page
Reload the page first — the extension has to be running before the page finishes loading. If that does not help, the site may be on our disabled domains list, or it may block extensions outright. Text drawn inside a canvas or a cross-origin iframe cannot be highlighted at all; that is a browser limitation rather than a setting.
The extension says I am signed out, but I am not
Reload the extension from your browser's extensions page. You should not need to sign in again. Older Safari builds had a bug that showed this state permanently — it is fixed, so make sure you are on the current version.
A highlight is missing from glasp.co
Highlights sync while you are signed in and online. Open the extension popup and check it is the same account you use on the web. If the highlight is in the extension but not on the site after a reload, email us the page URL and we will look at that document directly.
Highlighting a PDF
PDFs are highlighted in the browser, the same way web pages are — see the PDF highlighter page. Two cases genuinely cannot work: a scanned PDF is a picture of text rather than text, so there is nothing to select; and a PDF that opens in a separate desktop application never reaches the extension at all.
YouTube Summary
No transcript is available for a video
Summaries are built from the video's transcript. If the creator disabled captions and YouTube has not auto-generated any, there is nothing to summarize. Live streams also have no transcript until they finish processing.
The summary came back in the wrong language
Set your output language in the extension settings. If it still comes back in the video's language, tell us the video URL and the language you expected — we track these, and the cause is usually specific to a video.
Long videos are cut short or time-stamps look wrong
Very long videos are summarized in sections. If time-stamps do not line up with what you see, send us the URL; this is the kind of report we act on directly.
Import and export
Bringing highlights in from another app
Settings, Integrations imports from Kindle, Readwise, Matter, Medium, Pocket, and Instapaper. For Kindle you can also upload
My Clippings.txt straight from the device, or use the clippings converter.Getting your highlights out
Glasp exports to Notion, Obsidian, Roam, Readwise, Anki, Markdown, and CSV. Export is not a paid feature — your highlights are yours, and we would rather you could leave than feel stuck.
Using your highlights inside an AI assistant
The MCP connector gives Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP clients read-only access to your own library, with a link back to the source of every passage.
Apps and browsers
Which browsers and platforms are supported
Glasp is published for Chrome, Edge, and Safari, and installs on other Chromium browsers such as Brave and Opera from the Chrome Web Store. YouTube Summary covers Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. The ChatGPT extension is Chrome only. There are iOS and Android apps as well — see the mobile app page.
Settings or highlights disappeared after an update
This should not happen, and if it does we want to know. Send us your account email and roughly when you noticed — highlights live on the server, so what looks like data loss is usually a local state problem we can walk you through.
Account, billing, and your data
Cancelling or changing your plan
Settings, Manage Subscription. Cancelling keeps your account and every highlight in it; it only ends the paid features when the billing period does. See pricing for what a paid plan includes.
Deleting your account and data
Settings has a Delete Account option that removes your highlights, bookmarks, summaries, and profile. Export first if you want to keep anything — deletion cannot be undone.
Privacy and what we store
Our privacy policy covers what is collected, how long it is kept, and how to have it removed. Highlights you make are private to you unless you choose to make them public.
Still stuck?
Email [email protected]. Including these makes it far more likely we fix it on the first reply instead of asking you questions:
- The email address on your Glasp account
- Which product — the Glasp extension, YouTube Summary, the mobile app, or the website
- Your browser or device, and the extension version
- The page URL where it happened, if there is one
- What you expected, and what happened instead
