Winston Churchill was a British politician, army officer, and writer who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, during the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955. He was born on November 30, 1874, in Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, and died on January 24, 1965, in London, England. Churchill was a prolific writer, publishing more than 40 books and 500 articles in his lifetime. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953 for his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending exalted human values.
