Both overly difficult goals and easy goals that lack suitable rewards can lead to demotivation. By setting the right goals, intrinsic motivation naturally occurs, as we are more committed and connected to what we care about.
Generating Momentum:
Getting started is often the most challenging part of any task. However, motivation starts to build once we take the first steps and gain momentum. Instead of letting tasks accumulate until they feel overwhelming, it is crucial to consistently show up every day. As Confucius said, "The man who moves mountains begins by carrying away small stones." By focusing on generating momentum, we can conquer long-term goals and sustain motivation.
