^(audience applauding) - Thank you. (clears throat) I'd like to start today, I hear this is a confidential place so I wanna start with a confession of some kind, and the confession I want to make is that a very, very dark character inside of me. A really nasty guy, pretty destructive and pretty ugly, and since I am a huge fan of Star Wars, you coul... Read More

Summary

In this video, the speaker discusses the concept of having an inner Darth Vader and an inner Jedi within ourselves. These two characters, also known as the Saboteurs and the Sage, are in constant battle with each other. The speaker explains how this war between the negative forces and the positive forces inside of us can impact our success, happiness, and overall potential in life. The speaker shares five strategies for recognizing and shifting the balance of power between these two forces, with a focus on activating the positive intelligence (PQ) region of our brain and identifying and weakening our Saboteurs.

Questions & Answers

Q: What are the two characters inside each of us?

The two characters inside each of us are the Saboteurs (or the Darth Vader) and the Sage (or the Jedi).

Q: How does the war between these two characters impact our lives?

The war between these two characters has a significant impact on our success, happiness, and potential in life. How we navigate this war determines the kind of life we have and how much of our true potential we can reach.

Q: What are the five strategies for shifting the balance of power between the Saboteurs and the Sage?

The five strategies are: 1) Boosting the positive intelligence (PQ) brain through PQ Reps, such as the 10-second index finger exercise; 2) Exposing and weakening the Judge Saboteur by calling out its destructive messages; 3) Identifying and addressing other Saboteurs, such as the Controller, Hyper-Achiever, Restless, Stickler, Pleaser, Hyper-Vigilant, Avoider, Victim, and Hyper-Rational; 4) Cultivating the powers of the Sage, such as empathy, exploration, innovation, and navigating complexity; and 5) Creating mental fitness through daily practices and rituals.

Q: How can we activate the positive intelligence (PQ) region of our brain?

One traditional way to activate the PQ region of our brain is through meditation. However, many people struggle to maintain a consistent meditation practice and it may not always be practical to meditate in certain situations. An alternative way is through PQ Reps, which are short exercises designed to activate the PQ brain. One example is the index finger exercise, where you rub your index finger against your thumb while paying attention to the sensation.

Q: What role does the index finger play in boosting the positive intelligence (PQ) brain?

The index finger plays a role in the index finger exercise, which is one way to activate the PQ region of our brain. By rubbing your index finger against your thumb and focusing on the sensation, you can activate the PQ brain and shift away from the negative Saboteur mindset.

Q: What is the role of the Saboteurs in our minds?

The Saboteurs are the negative voices in our minds that come into play as we try to answer the question, "To survive and succeed, I should..." They can take on various forms, such as the Judge, Controller, Hyper-Achiever, Restless, Stickler, Pleaser, Hyper-Vigilant, Avoider, Victim, and Hyper-Rational. These Saboteurs are often destructive and hinder our ability to reach our true potential.

Q: What is the impact of negative emotions and the Saboteurs on our performance?

While negative emotions can serve a purpose in our lives by alerting us to problems, they should only be felt for a short period of time to prompt us to take corrective action. Staying in negative emotions for too long allows the Saboteurs to take control and undermines our performance. Our path to highest performance is through positive energy and activating the PQ region of our brains.

Q: Can we be successful with our Saboteurs?

Yes, it is possible to achieve success with our Saboteurs pushing us. However, the problem lies in the fact that we will never truly be happy as long as the Saboteurs are running the show. Additionally, our path to highest performance is not through the Saboteurs, so we will not reach our full potential if they are in control.

Q: How can we weaken the influence of our Judge and other Saboteurs?

One strategy is to expose the Judge and other Saboteurs by recognizing their destructive messages and calling out their lies. By understanding that their negative path is not the truth, we can begin to dismantle their power and regain control of our thoughts and actions.

Q: Is the concept of Saboteurs universal?

Yes, the concept of Saboteurs is universal and applies to all individuals. It is not limited to certain types of people or professions. The speaker has found through research and working with various individuals that the Saboteurs are a common experience for everyone.
