  • 📉 Tackling stunting: Stunting, a result of inadequate nutrition in the first three years of a child's life, affects physical and cognitive development. Nepal has made significant progress, reducing stunting from 57% in 2001 to 36% in 2016.
  • 💪 Key actions in Nepal: Nepal's success in reducing stunting can be attributed to various actions, including investment in healthcare systems, increased births in health facilities, improved sanitation practices to combat diarrheal diseases, and increased school attendance.
  • 🥛🥚🍖Diet impact: Nepal's growing incomes led to a richer diet, including milk, eggs, and meat. This improvement in diet contributed to reducing stunting among children.
  • 🌍 Sharing knowledge: Not all tactics will be applicable to every country, but the goal is universal improvement. The Exemplars project aims to share the lessons learned to enable exceptional progress in global health worldwide.
  • 🔄 Striving for equity: Despite worldwide aspirations for improved health, the current state falls short of the desired equity. The Exemplars project was created to accelerate the reduction of this inequity.
  • 🏥 Investment in health systems: One of the key actions taken by successful countries is investing in their health systems. This highlights the importance of robust healthcare infrastructure in achieving positive health outcomes.
  • 🚽 Improved sanitation practices: Encouragingly, countries that have successfully reduced stunting have also implemented measures to discourage open defecation and reduce exposure to diarrheal diseases caused by human waste in the environment.
