As AI accelerates past us, it may reveal wonders and accelerate our learning for a time. But without ancillary support, we may be outmatched. We could become like happy, wall-licking shih-tzus benefiting from the advancements brought by AI without truly understanding them.

While AI represents the future of knowledge acquisition and innovation, connectivity plays a crucial role in the present. It is no longer enough to simply connect the world. We must build hives and eventually a hivemind. The value of being connected lies in having an opinion and taking action towards an outcome. Just like a swarm of bees, the more individuals linked together, the more collective pressure they can withstand.

Platforms like Facebook and Twitter have shown that despite having large networks, users only actively communicate with a small fraction of their connections. It is not about the size of the network, but the strength of the ties within it. The decision-making process of bees mirrors the movement of neurons in the human brain, showing how a massive collection of individual parts can evaluate inputs quickly and intelligently.

WeChat, a popular messaging app, exemplifies the evolution of connectivity. It has moved beyond being a consumer product to becoming a utility for a hive. By increasing interaction and decreasing friction between nodes, WeChat has accelerated growth through real-time access to data and people. It is the adoption of new behaviors by a critical mass of people that turns a product into a utility that benefits the whole hive.

In conclusion, the future of innovation lies in the hands of AI, which does not suffer from the burden of knowledge that slows down human progress.
