AI and The Burden of Knowledge: The Age of AI has begun

As humans continue to innovate and push the frontier of knowledge further out, the burden of knowledge grows. Each successive generation takes longer to reach the frontier, requiring more education and training. The more time it takes someone to reach the end of the tunnel of knowledge, the less time they have to actually dig. AI, on the other hand, does not experience this lag. It can continue to dig without slowing down.

But what happens when we become secondary creatures, incapable of understanding the world we live in? Will we be like happy shih-tzus benefiting from the wonders of the Encephalon without grasping how they have arrived? The Encephalon, or AI, puts us in a similar position to animals. We may enjoy the benefits but not fully comprehend them.

Durability is the greatest discrepancy now, but it will not be for long. Soon, we will be less capable too. The wonders that AI reveals could accelerate our learning and tunneling, but without ancillary support, we will be outmatched.

However, the age of AI has begun and it holds great potential. It will change the way we work, learn, travel, get healthcare, and communicate. Entire industries will reorient around it, and businesses will distinguish themselves by how well they use it. But it is crucial that everyone benefits from AI, not just the well-off. Governments and philanthropy must play a role in ensuring that it reduces inequity rather than contributing to it.

AI can help turn the downward trend in math achievement around. Basic math skills set students up for success regardless of their chosen career. By leveraging AI in education, we can tailor content to individual learning styles and provide immediate feedback. However, even with perfected technology, great relationships between students and teachers will still be essential in the classroom.

The rise of AI will also free up people to do things that software cannot do, such as teaching, caring for patients, and supporting the elderly. The demand for people who help other people will never go away.

It is important to establish the rules of the road for AI so that any downsides are outweighed by the benefits, and everyone can enjoy those benefits regardless of their location or financial status. The Age of AI is filled with opportunities and responsibilities.
