NotebookLM becomes far more powerful when you add high-quality sources—and YouTube is one of the best places to learn from experts.
In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to import YouTube transcripts into NotebookLM using Glasp, so you can summarize videos, ask questions, and extract key insights in seconds. We’ll cover two easy workflows: importing transcripts from a single YouTube video, and bulk importing transcripts from an entire YouTube channel using channel tracking. Whether you’re studying, doing research, or building a personal knowledge system, this guide helps you turn YouTube content into searchable, structured notes inside NotebookLM—fast and effortlessly.
Note: Please use YouTube transcripts responsibly and comply with YouTube’s policies and the copyright laws in your country/region. You are solely responsible for how you import, use, share, or republish any transcript content. If you’re the channel owner, importing your own transcripts is generally fine. Please avoid misuse, abuse, or unauthorized redistribution of full transcripts without permission.
First of all, please install the Glasp browser extension in your laptop. It's available on Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Opera.
👉 Install in Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, and Opera

Please open any YouTube video. If you could have successfully installed the Chrome extension, you can see a Glasp toolbar at the top right.

Click the down-row icon on the toolbar. It opens a window including the transcripts of the YouTube video.

Please click on the icon at the right on the toolbar. It copies all the transcripts in the YouTube video.

Note: If YouTube doesn't provide the transcripts, the Glasp extension can't show the transcripts. Please try Glasp Reader or Audio transcription feature.
After you copy the transcripts of the YouTube video, paste them on NotebookLM. Type any prompt you want.

If you want to import multiple YouTube transcripts at once, use Glasp’s YouTube Channel Tracking feature.

In general, importing transcripts for personal learning and research is low-risk, but you should always follow YouTube’s terms and respect copyright laws in your country/region. Avoid reposting full transcripts publicly without permission. If you’re the channel owner, importing your own transcripts is typically fine. If you’re unsure, we recommend contacting the channel owner before reposting or sharing full transcripts publicly.
Once your transcripts are added as sources, you can summarize videos, ask questions, compare ideas across multiple videos, extract key takeaways, and generate notes or outlines for writing and research.
