What led George Agyapong to pursue a career in medicine? Growing up in Ghana, George experienced the loss of his mother at a young age. During his clinical experiences in pharmacy school, he witnessed the dire healthcare needs in his community, which sparked his desire to directly connect with patients and provide them with more support. Taking a non-traditional post-bacc path, George pursued his dream of becoming a doctor in the US, 12 years after earning his pharmacy degree in Ghana.

After completing his residency, George aims to focus on biomarker discovery in chronic liver diseases, addressing health disparities, and under-representation in clinical studies. He plans to undergo additional training to enhance his skills in clinical-translational research and community engagement, aiming to make a difference in the field of chronic liver disease.
