Rawhide Ranch’s original purpose was to protect and provide for any vulnerable young women who needed it. We might have refined things some over the years, but the core of what we’re about here hasn’t changed. Whether she turns out to be a Little or not makes no difference. She’s entitled and welcome to claim the sanctuary Rawhide offers.”

“I’m assuming you’re Councilman Jack Bosman. I’m Derek Hawkins, the owner of Rawhide Ranch. I’d have been here to greet you when you arrived if you’d shown us the courtesy of letting us know you were coming instead of just turning up at my gate out of the blue demanding entrance. With the ruckus you’re currently causing, I’m sensing you like to be dramatic, to make sure everyone always knows when you arrive anywhere. Since I’m equally sure you make a habit of turning up to places unannounced, you should have anticipated you’d need to wait at least a short while before seeing me. And honestly, as a councilman, I would have expected a higher degree of decorum in your interactions than you have exhibited so far.”

He made quite an imposing presence, standing, arms folded across his chest as he glared down at the much shorter man and dressed him down like he was a bratty Little, not a professional politician.

But we don’t need to worry about any of tomorrow’s things today. I’m thinking you’ve already had a big day and keeping things easy and simple for you for the rest of the day is the way to go.”

panic tried to take over, but I fought it down. Feel the fear and do it anyway.

“Ah, my sweet girl.” He lifted me and settled me sideways on his lap, cuddling me in against his chest before pressing his lips to the top of my head. “It’s a lot to take in, I know, but you’ll get used to good things happening, and staying. Before you know it, you’ll be running around with Sadie and the other Littles getting into as much trouble as them. Having fun with your friends.” A scoff came from the other side of the table before Sadie spoke. “I don’t know why I’m always the one getting blamed for any trouble that happens around here.” Master Derek laughed. “Really, angel? You don’t know why? Don’t think maybe it’s because you’re the instigator behind about ninety percent of said trouble?”

Sadie whispered, but I still heard her clearly. “Starting to wonder who is gonna end up helping who more.” “Sadie, love, that’s the beauty of Rawhide magic. It knows exactly what people need and provides it. There’s no more or less, only the perfect amount for everyone.”
