Becoming Supernatural is Dr. Joe Dispenza's practical and scientific case that ordinary people can produce extraordinary changes in their health, biology, and lives by changing their internal energy. The book's core argument rests on a simple but demanding formula: a clear intention (a coherent brain) combined with an elevated emotion (a coherent heart) can shift a person's biology from living in the past to creating a new future.
Dispenza weaves together neuroscience, epigenetics, quantum physics, and heart-math research to explain how we get stuck. Because where you place your attention is where you place your energy, obsessing over familiar people, problems, and routines siphons creative energy into a predictable past-present reality. The thinking-feeling loop conditions the body to become the mind, so that by mid-life roughly 95 percent of us runs on subconscious programs.
The path out, he argues, runs through meditation. Key practices include:
Throughout, Dispenza supports his claims with EEG brain scans, HRV measurements, and documented epigenetic changes from his four-day workshops, plus case stories like Anna's recovery. The central promise is that mental rehearsal can prime the brain and body so that a desired future feels as if it has already happened, allowing readers to biologically wear their future and draw new experiences to them through a vibrational match.
The only way we can change our lives is to change our energy—to change the electromagnetic field we are constantly broadcasting. In other words, to change our state of being, we have to change how we think and how we feel.

Every person, object, thing, place, or situation in our familiar physical reality has a neurological network assigned to it in our brain and an emotional component connected to it because we’ve experienced all these things. This is how our energy becomes bonded to our past-present reality. Therefore, as you place your attention on all these elements, your energy is flowing away from you and it leaves little energy in your inner world of thoughts and feelings to create something new in your life.

That’s why I say you have to think greater than the way you feel to make any real, lasting changes.

All frequency, of course, carries information. Think about radio waves for a moment. There are radio waves moving through the room you’re sitting in right now. If you turned a radio on, you could tune it to a specific wavelength or signal, and then a little transducer in the radio would pick up that signal and turn it into sound that you could hear and understand as your favorite song, the news, or even a commercial. Just because you can’t see the radio waves in the air doesn’t mean they aren’t there, carrying distinct information on a specific frequency all the time. If you change the frequency a small degree and tune in to another station, a different message will be carried on that wavelength.

We know that it takes a clear intention (a coherent brain) and an elevated emotion (a coherent heart) to begin to change a person’s biology from living in the past to living in the future. That combination of mind and body—of thoughts and feelings—also seems to influence matter. And that’s how you create reality.

is our desire for our students to develop the ability to regulate an internal state independent of the conditions in their external environment and to know when they are creating heart coherence and when they are not. In other words, when we measure those internal

Anna also learned a specific breathing technique I teach in our work to liberate all the emotional energy that is stored in the body when we keep thinking and feeling the same way. By constantly thinking the same thoughts, Anna had been creating the same feelings, and then by feeling those familiar emotions, she would think more of the same corresponding thoughts. She learned that the emotions of the past were stored in her body, but she could use this breathing technique to liberate that stored energy and free herself from her past. So every day, with a level of intensity that was greater than her addiction to past emotions, she practiced the breath and got better and better at doing it. After she learned to move that stored energy in her body, she learned how to recondition

There’s a future you—a you who already exists in the eternal present moment—who is actually calling himself or herself to the more familiar you who is reading this book. And that future you is more loving, more evolved, more conscious, more present, more kind, more exuberant, more mindful, more willful, more connected, more supernatural, and more whole. That is who’s waiting for you to change your energy to match his or her energy on a daily basis so you can find that future you—who actually exists in the eternal now.

the one she was imagining and emotionally embracing. She also knew through her understanding of epigenetics that the elevated emotions of love, joy, gratitude, inspiration, compassion, and freedom could signal new genes to make healthy proteins affecting her body’s structure and function. She fully understood that if

Here’s a good example. A team of Harvard researchers took a group of volunteers who had never before played the piano and divided the group in half. One half practiced a simple five-finger piano exercise for two hours a day over a period of five days. The remaining half did the same thing, but just by imagining they were sitting at the piano—without physically moving their fingers in any way. The before-and-after brain scans showed that both groups created a dramatic number of new neural circuits and new neurological programming in the region of their brains that controls finger movements, even though one group did so by thought alone.3 Think about this. The folks who mentally rehearsed the actions had brains that looked like the experience had already happened—even though they never lifted a finger. If you were to put them in front of a piano after five days of mental rehearsal, many of them would be able to play the exercise they imagined pretty well, even though they had never before tickled the ivories. Readers drawn to meditation, manifestation, and mind-body healing will find the most value here, especially those already familiar with Dispenza's earlier work. It suits people feeling stuck in stress, illness, or repetitive emotional patterns who want a structured practice rather than abstract theory. Curious skeptics open to experiential exploration may also engage, though the heavy quantum and energy-center framing will appeal most to those comfortable blending spirituality with scientific language.
