My Body Was Never the Problem

I spent years trying to fix myself.

As a psychologist, I had language for everything—diagnoses, frameworks, treatment plans. As a human, I was disconnected from the one place that held the truth: my body.

It wasn’t until my own recovery from an eating disorder that I understood this simple thing: Healing doesn’t begin with insight. It begins with safety.

When I stopped overriding my body and started listening—really listening—everything changed. My breath became information. Sensations became guidance. Rest stopped feeling like failure and started feeling like wisdom.

That shift reshaped how I work with women today.

I no longer ask, “What’s wrong with you?” I ask, “What did your body learn it needed to survive?”

Embodiment isn’t self-improvement. It’s self-trust.

And the most powerful healing I’ve witnessed doesn’t come from trying harder—it comes from softening enough to feel.

If you’ve been doing all the “right” things and still feel disconnected, your body isn’t broken. It’s waiting.
