When we strive to maximize our rewards under the assumption that solving hard problems is the key, we inadvertently fall into a trap. We start seeking out increasingly challenging puzzles that we can conquer with flying colors. It becomes a game of proving our intelligence and capabilities rather than focusing on the true essence of our work.

This mindset is particularly prevalent among smart college students who are often driven by the belief that tackling hard technical problems is the epitome of success. They believe that by solving the most difficult puzzles, they are making the most significant contributions to society.

However, this perspective fails to recognize the true importance of our work. It blinds us to the fact that not all problems are created equal and that the impact we can make extends far beyond the realm of technical complexity.
