更是笑不活了 Hi Stella, how are you today? Can you introduce yourself to us? Hi, my name is Stella. My Chinese name is Yu Tongqing. My major is analytics and I'm from Shanghai, China.
It's such a good description of yourself. Please tell me more about your major. Why did you choose this major? My major is about data analytics. We can learn how to process data and how to manage the outliers in data and to help others to make some decisions. So you love data, right? Yes. And you love mathematics? I think I don't like math very much. But I think even though my math is not very good,
I can also learn data well. Good. So you're brand new in USC, right? Yes. So tell me more about your USC life and what classes are you taking this semester? I took classes 521 and 529 this semester. 521 is more like learning some analytics tools and 529 is more about learning some statistics models and to do data prediction. And which class do you like the most? I like 521 most. Why? Because the professor is very friendly
and he would allow us to answer any questions in his class and he always gave us some very useful recommendations on certain jobs. And which class do you think is a little bit difficult? I think the 529 is more difficult because it includes a lot of math and the concept in the class is hard to understand. Good. So can you give an example of some difficult concepts of your class? Like the binomial theory
and the teachers will introduce the history and the source about the algorithm behind the theory and I think the math part is very difficult for me. Do you have to memorize those concepts? I have to understand the concept because the exam will conclude a lot of calculations. If you don't know the concept, you cannot solve these problems.
Oh, yeah, I got it. So you have to understand those concepts and learn how to learn its application not just like memorize those sentences. Yeah, I got it. So tell me more about your social life like your friends and do you join any clubs? Yeah, I make friends in these classes and I also join the data essay club in USC. Although it's an undergraduate organization I can also learn some project experiences in the club.
So what do you do in the club usually? I usually take a general meeting every Wednesday and I will talk about the project about my members. So are you the team leaders in the club? No, I'm one of the members in the club. Sure. So tell me more about a fun campus event you joined or a nice memory at USC during this three months. Okay, I think the most impressive memory is
the last month I took a road trip with schoolmates and that trip is very fun and we go to see the beautiful lakes and hot springs which we try and never saw before. So you are with your schoolmates. Like how many of them? Three, three schoolmates. Sure. So why do you think it's funny or it's meaningful? I think the views there is beautiful and on the road trip we listen to the music
and communicate with each other and I think our relationship is become stronger in that trip. And what do you want to try next semester like in terms of clubs, class or your goals? I want to try some more challenging classes like machine learning and this class is under CS because I think I can learn more coding parts in those classes. And what do you enjoy most about USC so far?
Mostly enjoying the scenery of the class, the schoolmates, the clubs or the food. I think I like the classes and professors and people I met in USC I think they are all very kind and they would like to help me when I meet some problems. Sure. You're so lucky to meet with them. And one last question. It's about your favorite food because I know you're brand new in America and I don't know if you're still unfamiliar with these food flavors.
So till now what's your favorite food in America? I like eating Chipotle in America. I enjoy eating different food combinations in the restaurant and I like their flavor. So what's your favorite ingredient? I like the corns and the potatoes. Potatoes. Cool. So that's it. That's all the questions. Thank you Stella and great talking with you. Thank you.
Thank you.
