We're already seeing a tragedy in form of COVID-19. But the next global disaster is closer than ever and it will worse than what we've seen so far. Amazon forest is known as the lungs of the Earth as it produces 20% of our planet's oxygen. Acc. to a new study, from 2010 through 2019, Amazon forest released 16.6 billion tonnes of CO2 while producing only 13.9 billion tonnes of oxygen that is 20% more CO2 released than the oxygen.
The same study also found that in 2019, deforestation has been increased by nearly 4 times as more trees are being burned down or destroyed. In 2019, ~43 billion tons of CO2 was emitted from our activities mostly coming from the Coal, Oil and Gases while countries set 2050 as their target to be carbon neutral.
