About the Video

NGC 2525 is a well-known spiral galaxy located 70 million light-years away from Earth. In mid-January, Astronomer Koichi Itagaki was studying NGC 2525 when he detected the supernova SN2018gv, located on the galaxy's outer edge.

Just a few weeks later, in February, Hubble telescope was pointed towards SN2018gv and Hubble quickly began observing. A large numbers of pictures were taken of this supernova and were stitched together in a time-lapse.
