TRAPPIST-1 is an ultra-cool red dwarf star located 40 light-years away from Earth. This star is slightly larger than Jupiter and has very low luminosity. When astronomers when observing this star, they detected 7 planets orbiting around it. 3 of them were orbiting in the habitable zone and one of them was TRAPPIST-1e.

TRAPPIST-1e orbits very close to it's star and takes only 6 days for one revolution. When scientists were studying it's atmosphere they found that it has hydrogen-free atmosphere, which is very similar to earth. Liquid water can easily exist on it's surface which increases the chances of habitability.

When it was measured on the Earth similarity index TRAPPIST-1e was found to be 95% similar to Earth.
