0Vertical turbine pumps, also known as deep well or line shaft pumps, are centrifugal pumps designed for fully submerged operation in water. They’re commonly used to extract water from underground wells or reservoirs for various applications across industries. Their vertical design makes them more practical than submersible pumps, as it keeps the motor dry and minimizes risks. These pumps consist of a motor, discharge head, and rotating impeller attached to a shaft, which directs water into a diffuser casing known as a bowl. The impeller raises water velocity, and the bowl converts it into high pressure. The water then passes through multiple stages before reaching the surface through a vertical column pipe. The motor, located above ground, is connected to the impellers via a vertical shaft, supported by sleeve bearings lubricated by the passing water. Finally, the discharge head directs the flow towards the discharge pipe. The vertical turbine pump market size was USD 21,719.32 million in 2023 and is anticipated to reach USD 34,658.65 million in 2033, growing at a rate of 4.9% from 2024 to 2033.
