I also have an affliction known as blogcitis. That is, I tend to read way too many blog posts (as opposed to books). This is both a remnant of my former life and a deep desire to gain as much knowledge as possible on any given day.¹ It also speaks to my immense and intense use of Pocket.
I literally and figuratively save my reading for later, at set times when I have a moment to sit down and consume a handful of things (usually audibly).
In some ways, my wife and I already have a de facto Pocket club — that is, we send many articles to one another and often discuss them later after we’ve both read them. In other ways, Pocket’s new “Recommended” feed is moving us in that way. Anyone who follows me can see the articles I recommend as “worth their time” to read. But I’d like the next step: a discussion about said articles.
What if people had a shared reading list each week of say, 20 articles, to read and discuss over dinner and/or drinks?
