Engineered Value = NPVe + Opportunity Value + Abandonment Value
Discovery-Driven Plan (DDP),
The DDP stage of OE comprises two substages: 1. Framing and Operating Specification stage, which scopes out the investment and documents your major assumptions 2. Sensitivity Analysis stage, which identifies the most critical assumptions you have made
Do not have more than 30 major assumptions to check, and do not have more than 15 CheckPoints. Why? Any more than this and you will more than likely never replan—it is too time-consuming and painful.
Coalition activities such as joint ventures, licenses, and alliances can meaningfully reduce the uncertainty surrounding a strategy.
