The most important business lesson my dad taught me was that money comes from work. Don’t talk to me about what you deserve or what you’re entitled to. No one is going to hand you anything.
Overall, this book isn’t about becoming rich; it’s about adding value—to yourself, your family, and the world around you.
The more wealth that the people around me create, the more I shall benefit, too. What is more, like many Jews, when I have faithfully followed the permanent principles you are about to study, I have prospered richly, and when I have foolishly abandoned them, I have failed.
However, most people who learn how to make money inevitably learn how to improve their relationships with others.
But dishonesty and loathsome behavior only pay off in the very short term. Reputation is key. Sooner or later, the cheating, dishonest, and unpleasant business professional runs out of people with whom to conduct business.
