Are you Trapped in the Canon? The Cost of Reading Only Old Books

URL
https://medium.com/@dianademco/are-you-trapped-in-the-canon-the-cost-of-reading-only-old-books-fbd9053c5b9f

Highlights & Notes

Just because 99 people read X book and arrived at a specific worldview, that doesn’t mean it will also be true for you.

User
Reading is really subjective and what conclusions you come to will always be slightly different from the person next to you because of your own experiences.  Like I read Harry Potter and completely disagree that Molly is a great mother figure for the way she treats her own kids, especially Fred, George and Percy. It's not wrong, just like someone saying Molly fits the archetype of mother and is shown to be caring isn't wrong.
